i'm over the moon about this so i'm still gonna keep gushing about it so time to tell a buncha people on the internet.

  • 03

about three weeks ago a notice was sent out by our property managers about a potentially lost

orange cat. there was a box and food occasionally left out and during the evening you'd hear a

    cat meowing around the property.

  • 08

neither me or my partner saw anything until this past thursday. i saw her while walking our dog

  • 09

and returned alone to check if she was still there.

  • 10

she was. she let me approach her and she was very skinny. there was a little bit of food but it

  • Stray cats aren't the easiest to take in. Sometimes they're a handful. From living on the streets to inside a home isn't always easy to navigate for the cat either. Usually the cat is used to being outside, fighting for its life, being in survival mode, and not necessarily getting the love and support it needs. Imagine if you were on the streets. Could you just one day go back to everything normal without a period of coping? It's not easy, but this couple did it with the cat, and the cat has probably never been happier.

didn't look like she was getting enough. i went to go out more food out there and sure enough,

  • 12

she started to follow me. i ate my dinner outside on the balcony to keep an eye on her and

  • 13

eventually she let me pick her up and we let her explore the area.

  • 14

my partner and i were initially going to keep her outside until we could schedule a vet

  • 15

appointment, as we have a cat and dog already. i led her back to her outdoor setup and went back

  • 16

to where i was sitting. i spend a fair amount of time sitting outside and not too long after

  • 17

she came back to my side of the building meowing even louder.

  • 18

i kinda knew it was over for us and asked my partner to crate the dog and put the cat in the bathroom. and now she's here.

  • 19

she's lovely. we're thinking she was dumped by a former or current tenant, given she's been

  • 20

wandering around meowing on the property. she can use the litter box, she's very social to me

  • 21

and my partner. she's fine with the cat and she's wary but curious about the dog. my first cat was feral when i got him and it's been a stark difference.

  • Orange cats are known for many things. Like the stereotypes of a redhead, they're known to be mischievous, fiery, and temperamental. Usually they're boy cats, but in the story here it's a girl cat. This is a really wholesome story, and the cat distribution system never fails to satisfy a person's cat needs! Enjoy this story and comment below whether you would take in the cat.

vet said she's in good health, albeit underweight. probably about 6-8 months. we're getting

  • 23

her spayed next month. my partner called her cricket the first time they interacted cause she

  • 24

chirps and purrs super loud. she's not microchipped and i've browsed the local lost pet groups.

  • 25

we're in a position to take her in and she's such a sweet little girl.

  • 26

we've wanted another cat for a while but we had a few factors as to why we weren't going out of

  • 27

our way to get one yet. but we had already agreed if something like this ever happened, it was

  • 28

over for both of us. we are huge cat lovers. she will be well taken care of. welcome home, cricket.
