Relegation from the Premier League is considered one of the most undesirable outcomes in all of professional football, as it denies a club access to next season's lucrative pool of top-flight income and exposure and instead banishes them to the Championship the following season.
Finishing in the bottom three places sees a team drop to the second tier, while the top two finishers in the Championship and the playoff winner replace them.
It's extremely difficult for newly promoted clubs to find themselves established long-term in the Premier League, but it's also quite normal that one or two of them at least stay afloat for a few seasons.
Unfortunately, that has not been the case in 2024/25, as for the second successive season, all three promoted sides will be dropping back down to the Championship at the end of the campaign.

Premier League teams relegated 2025: Who is going down?
On April 6, Southampton became the first club relegated from the Premier League this season, their fate sealed by a 3-1 loss at Tottenham.
The Saints still need two points to overtake Derby County's worst-ever points total of 11 from the 2007/08 season.
They will try to avoid that humiliation without Ivan Juric, who was sacked as manager on April 7. Juric lost 12 of his 14 Premier League games in charge after replacing Russell Martin earlier in the season.
Leicester City have also changed managers this season, with Ruud van Nistelrooy replacing Steve Cooper. But the former Manchester United striker could not arrest the Foxes' grim slide and a 1-0 defeat to champions-elect Liverpool on April 20 sealed their fate.
The following weekend, Ipswich Town completed the set as Ben Johnson was sent off and Champions League-chasing Newcastle United ran out 3-0 winners at St James' Park.
It means that, for the first time in Premier League history, the relegation places are all confirmed with four games of the season remaining.

Which clubs are most likely to be relegated in 2026?
Burnley have responded to their relegation last season by securing an instant return to the Premier League alongside Leeds United, who have ended a two-season stay in the Championship.
Sheffield United, who were relegated alongside Burnley last year, will contest the playoffs alongside Sunderland and two as yet to be confirmed teams.
Recent history shows that Burnley, Leeds and whoever joins them will be the favourites for the drop in a fiercely competitive Premier League.
