Predicted Giants-Browns draft trade would be bad news for Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel

31 minutes ago 2

With neither Shedeur Sanders nor Dillon Gabriel having cemented themselves as the long-term solution at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, it's possible the team goes back to the well for a signal-caller in the 2026 NFL draft.

Gabriel has struggled mightily over six starts this season and it's looking more and more like he isn't the guy. Sanders hasn't had much of a chance to prove himself in 2025, but he's going to get that opportunity now that Gabriel is hurt.

If the Browns aren't convinced with either player after this season, ESPN's Matt Miller believes the Browns will orchestrate a trade up for a quarterback.

He predicts a deal between the Browns and New York Giants that sees Cleveland move up from No. 3 overall to No. 2 in the 2026 NFL draft to take Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

The Browns' many attempts to find a franchise quarterback have failed, so it's back to the drawing board. Moore started five games at UCLA in 2023 before transferring to Oregon and sitting behind Dillon Gabriel -- whom he'd actually be replacing here -- in 2024. Moore has played with poise and touch this season, completing 72.8% of his passes for 2,190 yards and 21 touchdowns to five interceptions while showing great arm talent.

He isn't a shoo-in to declare for 2026, given his limited experience (15 starts), but Moore's penchant for making tough throws from muddy pockets would fit in Cleveland. Moore alone wouldn't be a quick fix, but matching him with RB Quinshon Judkins and TE Harold Fannin Jr. would give the Browns a young, high-energy offense.

Moore is having a phenomenal season for the Ducks, with the young signal-caller completing 72.8% of his passes for 2,190 yards and 21 touchdowns to five picks. Moore has also displayed his athleticism with 183 rushing yards.

As a result of his impressive showing, Moore is in the conversation as one of the top quarterback prospects for 2026, hence he could come off the board this early.

The Giants are a logical trade-back candidate given the fact they already have their guy in Jaxson Dart. The same can be said for the Tennessee Titans, who are in the No. 1 spot in this mock and don't need a quarterback thanks to Cam Ward.

Seeing as how Tennessee and New York both have their quarterbacks, that would suggest that the Browns can sit tight and still get their signal-caller, but we can never rule out another team trying to trade up ahead of them.

If the Browns feel like Moore can be "the guy" for the long haul, they should stop at nothing to make sure they land him, no matter what it takes.
