Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is moving on and will seek a new team in free agency.
The 29-year-old revealed the move in an Instagram post Monday night, a day after the NFL season came to end in Super Bowl 60.
“Cleveland, first off I love you. These 9 years have been a beautiful journey. I’m … so grateful for all the memories we shared together,” Njoku wrote. “Thank you to The Haslams, Andrew Berry and the whole browns organization for everything!! All my teammates I shared the battle with I’m so grateful for you guys. The time for me to find a new home has come and all I can think of is just the gratefulness in my heart. The city of Cleveland will forever be home❤️ #ChiefOut”

Njoku was drafted by the Browns late in the first round in 2017. Throughout his career, he’s recorded 384 catches for 4,062 yards and 34 touchdowns. He is likely to gain a lot of interest in the free agent market.
There are several teams that could be looking for a tight end upgrade.
In Minnesota, T.J. Hockenson hasn’t produced at the level expected since being traded there in 2022. The Vikings could look to get third-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy a new target.
The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to bounce back next season and might have to do it without 36-year-old Travis Kelce, who will determine his NFL future soon. If Kelce retires, Njoku could be an option.

The Los Angeles Chargers have Will Dissly and Orande Gadsden II. Gadsen had a better than average rookie campaign but struggled with drops. Depth at the position could be an option.
Lastly, the New England Patriots coming off a Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks could be interested in the tight end. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel worked with the Browns in 2024 as a consultant.
