AEW star Danhausen's time in the Tony Khan-led company has been underwhelming. He has only wrestled a handful of matches, and many fans often forget that he is still under contract with them.

Danhausen has one of the most unique gimmicks in all of professional wrestling. The very nice, very evil star is quite popular on the independent circuit, and many believe that he will be a great addition to the WWE roster.

The 35-year-old was a topic of discussion in a recent Fightful Select Answers Q&A Podcast. His contract with the Jacksonville-based company is reportedly expiring in February 2026, and a fan asked Sean Ross Sapp about the whereabouts of the former FIP Florida Heritage Champion. He even wanted to know if there is a possibility for the wrestler to feature in the 2026 Royal Rumble match.

Sapp responded by saying that the chances of the AEW star entering the upcoming match are slim. He added that Tony Khan should release him since he is not using him at all.

"Barring some trickery, I don't think he would be able to do the 2026 Royal Rumble. I think it's a bad mark on AEW that they extended his contract due to injury time with absolutely no plans to use him, and with him wanting to be let go. What purpose does that serve? Just let the guy go. It's just a waste of money. If he doesn't want to be there and you don't want to use him, cut him loose. Him getting an AEW release is about the only way that could happen, which honestly isn't out of the realm of possibility," said Sapp.

AEW star Danhausen on John Cena's heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber 2025

John Cena shocked the world by turning heel for the first time in years at WWE Elimination Chamber 2025. Interestingly, Danhausen was overjoyed by this character change.

The 35-year-old responded to it with the following statement.

"Oh, my God. I support anyone becoming very evil, as I’m evil myself," he said during an interview with Mona of TheOneMona. [H/T: Fightful]

Only time will tell what the future holds for Danhausen in the world of professional wrestling.
