IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have received permission from the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) to send their pacers to train in the SA20 2026, as reported by Cricbuzz. South Africa's premier franchise T20 tournament, the SA20, will kick-start its new edition on December 26.
According to the report, Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan are the two pacers who have been shortlisted. A couple of pacers more, such as Naman Tiwary, could also join the list. While these three are not contracted to the BCCI or representing their state at the moment, the franchise has sought permission from the BCCI regardless. They are expected to train with the Durban Super Giants, a subsidiary of LSG, in the SA20.
Notably, both Avesh and Mohsin have been away from action. Avesh last played in IPL 2025, while Mohsin did not play the season. They have been away due to injury, and hence LSG saw the SA20 as an opportunity for their pacers to recover and get themselves in shape for the upcoming edition, which is slated to begin on March 26.
Further, Lance Klusener, Tom Moody, Bharat Arun, and Carl Crowe are part of the support staff of the Durban Super Giants. They are also part of the support staff at LSG in the IPL.
LSG squad for IPL 2026
Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, LSG had retained the majority of their players from the previous season. The list included Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, Aiden Markram, Matthew Breetzke, Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, Himmat Singh, Mitchell Marsh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Arshin Kulkarni, Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Manimaran Siddharth, Digvesh Rathi, Akash Singh, and Prince Yadav.
At the auction, they aimed to strengthen their squad by signing three big overseas names in Josh Inglis, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Anrich Nortje. They splurged ₹8.6 crore on Inglis, while they acquired Hasaranga and Nortje at their base price of ₹2 crore each.
Among Indian domestic players, they added Mukul Choudhary (₹2.60 crore), Akshat Raghuwanshi (₹2.20 crore), and Naman Tiwari (₹1 crore) to their roster. LSG finished seventh last year. They will hope for an improved showing in the upcoming season.
