"Please don't be a Spurs fan?": Dylan Harper's dad Ron Harper calls out X user for Kobe Bryant r*pe case remarks

Dylan Harper's father and five-time NBA champion, Ron Harper, called out someone on X, formerly known as Twitter, for bringing up Kobe Bryant's sexual assault case. Bryant was infamously accused of sexual assault in 2003, but the criminal case was dropped.

In a post on X, Spurs fan and Area 210 Podcast host Mike Jimenez brought up Bryant's case while talking about Stephon Castle. Some people began comparing Castle to the former NBA MVP, but Jimenez quickly shut it down and used Bryant's history against him.

"All this chatter on Twitter as to whether Stephon Castle is the next Kobe is crazy. By 26, Kobe was already a R*PIST and I doubt Castle would ever be accused of that," Jimenez tweeted.

While San Antonio Spurs fans weren't fond of Kobe Bryant during his career, some of them defended his memory from Mike Jimenez. One fan was baffled by why off-court stuff mattered when comparing players on the court.

Another fan tagged Ron Harper, who played with Bryant and won two NBA championships with him on the LA Lakers. Dylan Harper's father was baffled by the comments and hoped that Jimenez wasn't a Spurs supporter.

Another fan replied to Ron and claimed that Jimenez wasn't a real Spurs fan and actually supports the Houston Rockets.

As for the Kobe Bryant case, the criminal case was dismissed after the accuser decided not to testify at the trial. She would file a civil case months later, which was eventually settled out of court.

Bryant continued to deny that he sexually assaulted her accuser, but he did apologize for the encounter. He thought that what happened between them was consensual, but after getting to know her side of the story, he understood that she didn't give him her consent, as per NBC News.

One of the few players in NBA history to play with both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant was Ron Harper. His son, Dylan Harper, obviously learned a lot about basketball from his father, but what did Ron tell him about MJ and Kobe?

"Really just their mentality, how they go about not just basketball, but life," Harper told SB Nation back in March. "Like, you gotta be here at a certain time, you better be the hardest worker to win. There's little things like that."

Harper was drafted No. 2 by the Spurs, and he's now part of one of the best young cores in the NBA, alongside Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.
