One of the highest-profile free agents in the NBA right now is the Detroit Pistons' Jalen Duren, and there's still no indication that this situation will get resolved anytime soon.
While many franchises have made big changes this offseason, from the Philadelphia 76ers signing vet LeBron James or Giannis Antetokounmpo joining the Miami Heat, the Pistons have remained a bit subtle. They haven't made any blockbuster trades. They're trying to build around Cade Cunningham but haven't really done anything flashy to do so.
And, the Pistons still have their hands full figuring out this Duren situation. In a feature out on Friday, a panel of NBA insiders from ESPN lay out the best remaining free agents in the league, and one of them is Duren.

According to Jamal Collier from ESPN, there's still definite interest between these parties. But, they appear far off from an agreement.
"The teams that entered free agency with cap room have used their space elsewhere, leaving no clear suitor to put significant pressure on the Detroit Pistons by offering Duren a max or near-max contract," Collier states. "The Pistons still have interest in retaining Duren and view the 22-year-old All-Star as a part of their future core, but the two sides remain at an impasse over the value of Duren's next contract after a stellar regular season but disappointing postseason."
Right now, this contract situation is one that is likely to go into August or September, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. It would be a surprise for the Pistons and Duren to not come to an agreement, though, so this is more a question of when not if.
