Anisimova's Instagram storyAryna Sabalenka opened up about breaking Serena Williams' Grand Slam record
During the press conference for her ongoing Wuhan Open campaign, Aryna Sabalenka was asked whether she could ever reach Serena Williams' level of success and breach her Grand Slam record. Answering the question Sabalenka said,
"We all want to break records, I think that is obvious. I believe the right thing to do is to focus on yourself, on your game, on developing as a player and as a person. If you deserve those great titles, if you deserve to break some records, you will. So, my goal is to develop as a player. And of course, I want to do it, but it is going to be very difficult to match the Grand Slam titles that Serena Williams has," said Aryna Sabalenka (as quoted by YardBaker)This question baffled the fans, as they expressed their frustration over the comparison. One of the Reddit users wrote:
“Why would anyone even ask her this? She is 27 with 4 titles, unless she's winning slams at 40 how is she reasonably breaking Serena's record?.”Along similar lines, multiple users showcased their dismay over this question presented to Aryna Sabalenka. After the Wuhan Open, the latter enjoyed a Dubai vacation with her best friend, Paula Badosa.
