As 2025 comes to a close, Team India Men's and Women's sides will look back on the numerous troughs and crests across the formats throughout the season. Yet, the first two moments that will almost certainly hit all Indian fans are the two ICC trophy highs that were added to the cabinet.
The Men's side kicked off 2025 by running through the Champions Trophy in the UAE, winning all five games in their incredible title run. However, it was the women later in the year that provided Indian cricket the ultimate joy by overcoming all odds to win the 50-over World Cup at home.
The semifinal win over the seemingly unbeatable Aussies is arguably the best moment of the year across the Men's and Women's Indian sides. The ICC events aside, both the Indian teams achieved largely excellent results in ODIs, with a series defeat each to Australia being the lone blip in an otherwise stellar 12 months.
Like any year, 2025 had several individuals stand out with their consistent performances in the 50-over format.
Here, we pick the combined Men's and Women's Indian ODI team of 2025, a year that provided fans with several moments of joy.
Openers: Rohit Sharma & Smriti Mandhana
A dream opening partnership, possible only in a computer game, will be Rohit Sharma walking out to the middle with Smriti Mandhana. The former led the Indian Men's side to Champions Trophy glory, while also amassing a truckload of runs in ODIs.
Rohit finished 2025 with 650 runs at an average of 50 and a strike rate of 100.46 in 14 ODIs. Meanwhile, Mandhana was the leading run-scorer in ODIs this year with 1,362 runs at an average of almost 62 and a strike rate of 109.92 in 23 outings.
While Rohit reached three figures twice in ODIs, Mandhana scored five ODI centuries in 2025.
Middle Order: Virat Kohli, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyas Iyer
As long as Virat Kohli continues to play the sport, the No. 3 spot in ODIs will almost certainly remain his in any form of best playing XI. The champion batter enjoyed another stellar season in 2025, scoring 651 runs at an average of 65.10 and a strike rate of 96.15 in 13 ODIs.
He also notched up three ODI centuries, including back-to-back tons against the Proteas in India's most recent series.
India Women's World Cup semifinal star, Jemimah Rodrigues, played the knock of the year in ODIs with her sensational 127 off 134 deliveries against Australia. That aside, the right-hander produced other notable performances, amassing 771 runs at an average of 51.40 and a strike rate of over 105 in 20 ODIs.
Shreyas Iyer rounds off the top five, following another consistent showing in ODIs this year. As has always been the case, the veteran batter went under the radar despite producing several valuable knocks in India's Champions Trophy triumph.
He finished 2025 with 496 runs at an average of 49.60, including five half-centuries, in 10 ODI innings.
Wicketkeeper and All-rounder: KL Rahul & Deepti Sharma
KL Rahul will don the wicketkeeping gloves for the combined Indian ODI 11 for 2025. The veteran was at his consistent best in ODIs despite batting in the tricky lower middle-order position.
Rahul scored 367 runs at an average of over 52 and a strike rate of almost 108 in 14 ODIs.
The 2025 Women's ODI World Cup Player of the Tournament, Deepti Sharma, comes in next after another brilliant all-round season in the 50-over format. The 28-year-old led all bowlers around the world with 39 wickets in 23 ODIs, while adding almost 600 runs at an average of 49.66 and a strike rate of over 98 with the willow.
Bowlers: Harshit Rana, Sneh Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Kranti Gaud
Given the amount of ODI cricket played in Asia this year, a heavy spin-bowling attack only seems reasonable. Thus, alongside Deepti, the duo of Sneh Rana and Kuldeep Yadav further bolsters the spin department, thanks to their strong showing in ODIs in 2025.
Rana was India's second leading wicket-taker in ODIs this year, picking up 28 wickets in 17 games at an average of under 28. Meanwhile, Kuldeep was at his usual best, finishing 2025 with 19 wickets in 11 ODIs at an average of 29.
A pacer each from the Indian Men's and Women's side, Harshit Rana and Kranti Gaud, round off the combined 11. In a possible surprise to some, the former was India's leading wicket-taker in men's cricket in ODIs this year with 20 scalps in 11 outings at an average of 25.55.
Meanwhile, Gaud led India-Women's pace attack in style, picking up 23 wickets in 15 ODIs at an average of 28.60.
