Phillies share good news on Brandon Marsh after finger injury

The Philadelphia Phillies' offense has been a big issue for the team this season, that is, for most everyone other than Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber.

But those two are expected to play well. One of the key players for this offense is Brandon Marsh, the left-handed hitting outfielder who's had a strong 2026 season so far. However, he was banged up during Tuesday night's game against the San Diego Padres.

While there was concern with Marsh, Matt Gelb of The Athletic shared an update from the Phillies that is some good news on their star lefty outfielder after a finger injury scare.

"Brandon Marsh (middle finger) is a little sore, Don Mattingly said, but it's about what they expected," Gelb reports. "Club believes he can play Friday (They are off Thursday)."

This is a welcome injury update for Marsh, who could've been out for a while had this injury been a more serious one.

The left-handed hitting outfielder for the Phillies is a key component of the offense, as his .326 batting average is the best on the team, and his .837 OPS is far-and-away the third-best, behind only Schwarber and Harper.

While he's out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres, as Cole Weintraub of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports, Marsh could've played on Wednesday if needed, but in the regular season, it makes sense not to rush him.

Marsh looks like he should be good to return for the Phillies after missing just one game, which is a huge sigh of relief, as he's an integral part of the offense this season as their third-best hitter.
