The Philadelphia Phillies lost in the postseason once again, and now the fan base is hoping to see some big changes after the team has continued to run it back for a few years now.
While Don Mattingly is back, the Phillies have already moved on from Bobby Dickerson and Kevin Long and have hired Carlos Mendoza to fill a coaching role. But when it comes to player personnel, there's one player many fans are likely hoping departs.
This polarizing infielder, Alec Bohm, is set to be a free agent this offseason. However, MLB insider Robert Murray of Fansided.com believes that it's not out of the question that Bohm will actually return to the Phillies this offseason.
MLB insider won't rule out Phillies re-signing Alec Bohm this offseason
"A return to Philadelphia can't be ruled out, but with so many teams looking for right-handed hitters, Bohm should have plenty of suitors in free agency," Murray writes. "And it would surprise no one if his best days were still ahead of him."
Bohm is one of the most polarizing players from the last few seasons of Phillies baseball. He's had his fair share of great moments, but also plenty of lowlights.
Across seven seasons and 874 total games with the Phillies since 2020, he's posted just 4.9 bWAR, with his -0.2 bWAR mark this past season being the second-worst of his MLB career.

He's not much of a home-run hitter, with only 85 since his MLB debut. He does knock in a lot of baserunners, with 483 RBIs in his MLB career. But with a .273 batting average and a .735 OPS, Bohm isn't much more than an average hitter.
The Phillies potentially re-signing him would not likely sit well with some fans, especially since he'd be another example of this Phillies franchise running it back in recent years.
A new face in the infield would be nice for this Phillies team. It could be top prospect Aidan Miller, or another free agent or trade option to fill in for Bohm.
While Murray isn't ruling out Bohm returning to the Phillies, with his note that Bohm's market might be strong, it's hard to imagine the Phillies doubling down on Bohm after a frustrating 2026 season for the 30-year-old infielder.
