The Dallas Wings were one of the WNBA's worst teams in 2024 and 2025.
But in 2026 -- led by the brilliant Paige Bueckers -- the Wings improved almost overnight. Dallas returned to the playoffs after three seasons as the Wings executed an aggressive roster reshape through free agency and the draft.
In 2027, the expectations will be through the roof as Bueckers eyes a playoff breakthrough. But Dallas needs a little more before it can move into the "championship contenders" tier of the WNBA.

To that end, Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus has proposed a three-team trade idea that involves the Wings and the last four WNBA champions: the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces.

— Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston (@PostMovesShow) October 14, 2026In a four-player trade, the Wings would send 2025 Defensive Player of the Year Alanna Smith to the Liberty in exchange for the versatile forward Leonie Fiebich. The Aces would land oft-injured All-Star Satou Sabally from New York, and Las Vegas would re-route the rookie Janiah Barker to the Liberty to complete the trade.
The Liberty might be eager to change after missing out on the Finals, and Fiebich would be an upgrade on both ends for the Wings.
Fiebich's size and length would add a genuine disruptor to the Dallas defense; in 2024 and 2025, she posted individual defensive ratings of 100 and 106 respectively. In addition, the Germany star is one of the WNBA's top three-point shooters, slinging it at 41 percent or higher in each of her three seasons in North America.
New York understands Fiebich's value, especially as she remains under her rookie contract. However, the Liberty face a cap crunch this offseason, and they could make Fiebich's extension -- which could approach $1 million per year -- a problem for another team like Dallas to solve.
In that case, the Liberty's loss would be Bueckers and the Wings' gain.
