The Philadelphia Phillies, during their Monday night win over the Miami Marlins, got a bit of a concerning injury scare with Trea Turner.
He was hit on the wrist by a pitch and was clearly not 100% afterwards. And when he wasn't in the Phillies lineup for Tuesday, there were some big questions about whether he would miss a lot of time or not.
However, as The Athletic's Matt Gelb reports, Don Mattingly revealed some very encouraging news on Turner, that his wrist injury scare was only that, a scare, and it's not seeming like a long-term issue.
Phillies get good news on Trea Turner amid wrist injury
"Trea Turner (wrist) should be back in the lineup Wednesday, Don Mattingly said," Gelb reports Tuesday afternoon.
While Turner isn't in the lineup against the Marlins on Tuesday night - which features Brandon Marsh in the leadoff spot, Kyle Schwarber playing designated hitter, and Edmundo Sosa in Turner's spot - this report from Gelb is some great news.
This injury for Turner easily could've been a much more concerning issue, as it could've broken a bone and forced him to miss a significant chunk of time.

But this report makes it clear that the Phillies dodged a bullet, and Turner's injury isn't as severe as it was feared it could be.
Turner, who has a .216 batting average with seven homers, 21 RBIs, and a .594 OPS this season, dodged a major injury and is seemingly only going to miss one game.
While this injury is still one to monitor once he's back in the lineup, for now, it's a sigh of relief for the Phillies, as they didn't lose another key player as they did with Adolis Garcia a week ago.
