The Philadelphia Phillies are 25-25 on the year, which, while not overly impressive on its own, is a huge accomplishment considering their 9-19 record only a few weeks ago.
After such a mediocre start to the season, the Phillies aren't too far out of the playoff race, and look likely to head towards the trade deadline as buyers. But, if there is one position the team doesn't need, it would be the starting rotation.
However, one MLB executive, according to Robert Murray of Fansided.com, name-dropped Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski when discussing executives who would be willing to part with the package needed to acquire Tarik Skubal.
Dave Dombrowski name-dropped by MLB exec in Tarik Skubal trade rumor
"It would have to be a [Dave] Dombrowski or [AJ] Preller to get a top prospect," one MLB executive said. "Everyone else treats it like Wall Street and asset value, so my guess is a couple of top 10 prospects for a couple of months of him."
The Phillies don't need Skubal, as their rotation is in a good spot at the moment. Sure, he'd be a fun addition, but they have a much more pressing need offensively.
But, this MLB executive did name-drop Dombrowski as one of the few executives who might be willing to part with the prospects needed to acquire Skubal this year.
If the Phillies could have a rotation with Skubal, Zack Wheeler, Cristopher Sanchez, and Jesus Luzardo, it wouldn't matter what Aaron Nola and Andrew Painter did; it would be the best rotation in baseball by a wide margin.

Dombrowski has a knack for the blockbuster trade, just as San Diego Padres' A.J. Preller and Los Angeles Dodgers Andrew Friedman do. But the Phillies don't need Skubal as those other teams do.
Having Dombrowski name-dropped by this MLB executive as one of the few executives who would be willing to part with the elite prospect haul needed to acquire someone like Skubal is still noteworthy.
It might not be Skubal, but if an elite right-handed hitter were to be made available, then Phillies fans should feel confident that Dombrowski would be willing to swing a blockbuster deal to improve the team.
