The Philadelphia Phillies are likely to send a few players to the 2026 MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia at Citizens Bank Park. Brandon Marsh is likely to win a starting spot, but he might be the only starter for the Phillies this year.
Cristopher Sanchez or Zack Wheeler could start the All-Star Game, but Jacob Misiorowski and Shohei Ohtani are strong candidates for that role as well.
Misiorowski is the frontrunner, but fortunately for Sanchez and the Phillies fanbase, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reported that the Milwaukee Brewers superstar might not actually be eligible to pitch during the All-Star Game.
Cristopher Sanchez gets good news on odds to start All-Star Game
"So if the Brewers and Misiorowski stick to the schedule they have laid out, he would only be able to attend the Midsummer Classic on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park as a spectator," McCalvy writes.
With Misiorowski set to pitch on Thursday, July 2, Tuesday, July 7, and finally Sunday, July 12, he's currently in line to pitch the day before the All-Star break, making him ineligible to pitch during the All-Star Game.
If that happens, the chances of Sanchez starting the All-Star Game would increase dramatically. But that's not all. USA Today's Bob Nightengale shared an update on Los Angeles Dodgers ace Shohei Ohtani recently.

Ohtani is set to pitch the same weekend as Misiorowski, which would make him ineligible to pitch during the All-Star Game, given how the Dodgers schedule their pitching plan.
In such a scenario, who else would start for the NL All-Stars other than Sanchez? Wheeler is a possible candidate as well, but looking around baseball, the other options aren't as good as Sanchez.
Chris Sale, Chase Burns, Max Meyer, Kyle Harrison, Paul Skenes, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and any other starting pitcher don't have the same strong case as Sanchez.
Misiorowski or Ohtani could still have their pitching plan change to be eligible to pitch in the All-Star Game, but as things stand now, the Phillies fanbase is looking likely to see Sanchez start the All-Star Game as the NL's starting pitcher.
