Phillies' Bryson Stott makes MLB history not seen since Albert Pujols 18 years ago

The Philadelphia Phillies have been playing a lot better baseball since the 2026 MLB trade deadline. One of the more notable changes has been the patience from the offense, and more specifically, how Bryson Stott has come into his own.

Stott's been on a heater for a while now, and has even joined some pretty rare company in MLB history. The way he's done so is by walking so often with very few strikeouts. And recently, he just accomplished another feat.

As John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia shared, Stott has joined Albert Pujols, a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, as the first player since Pujols did it 18 years ago to walk 20+ times and strike out at most four times in a 19-game span in MLB history.

"Bryson Stott has reached base safely in a career-high 19 straight games," Clark posted. "He has 21 walks and only 4 strikeouts during the streak. The last player in the majors with 20+ walks and 4 or fewer strikeouts over a stretch of 19 games was Albert Pujols 18 years ago, and the last Phillies player was Richie Ashburn in 1958."

This is some very impressive company to join for Stott, both in MLB history and in Phillies franchise history. It's a bit of a cherry-picked set of statistics, but it's still some very impressive history nonetheless.

Stott's last 19 games have featured some incredible numbers and are a huge reason why the Phillies have a .632 record (12-7) during that span.

In 19 games and 61 at-bats, Stott has 21 hits, 13 runs scored, five doubles, one home run, 12 RBIs, six stolen bases (none caught stealing), 21 walks, four strikeouts, a .344 batting average, .512 on-base percentage, .475 slugging percentage, and a .988 OPS.

Since the All-Star break, Stott has a .947 OPS with a .320 average, 23 walks, and 18 strikeouts. He's rarely been striking out lately, and he's walking a lot more as well.

The addition of Luis Arraez has seemed to be a big help for the Phillies, as not only is Bryce Harper walking a lot more, but Stott has turned his offensive production up another level.

While he might not be the power-hitter that some other players are, his ability to get on base, get hits in the clutch, run the bases well, and draw a lot of walks while rarely striking out is incredible production from the Phillies infielder.
