Phillies announce big roster move with Team Italy WBC star outfield prospect

The Philadelphia Phillies have their Major League roster for Opening Day mostly set. There might be one or two spots up for grabs, as they could tweak their last bench spot and last spot in the bullpen.

With Opening Day right around the corner, the Phillies are continuing to limit the players in MLB spring training vying for a chance to break into the Majors. And recently, they made two roster moves with two young and very interesting prospects.

The Phillies announced two roster moves the day after the WBC finale. While one of the prospects is an intriguing 24-year-old slugger, the other player in this announcement was a star for Team Italy at the WBC and has plenty of hype heading into 2026.

Phillies announce two roster moves including Team Italy WBC star

"Prior to today's game, the Phillies reassigned INF/OF Felix Reyes and OF Dante Nori to minor league camp," the Phillies announced.

Reyes is an intriguing 24-year-old versatile prospect who had a 1.022 OPS in 30 spring training at-bats with three home runs and a .333 batting average. But, Reyes isn't the only one with an impressive spring thus far.

Nori, the 21-year-old outfielder whom the Phillies drafted in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, has had a few decent stints in the minors so far, finishing 2025 with a .732 OPS between stints at Single-A, High-A, and Double-A.

However, his performance at the WBC this year has garnered a lot of hype for the young outfielder. In six games and across 24 plate appearances, Nori has played great.

At the WBC for Team Italy, Nori finished with eight hits for a .400 batting average, one double, two home runs, six total RBIs, two stolen bases, two walks, and three runs scored.

He closed out the WBC with an impressive 1.185 OPS in the biggest stage he's ever played on since being drafted by the Phillies.

Not only was it very encouraging to see Nori play well against some of the best competition in baseball, but to do so on such a big stage and help Italy go on a deep WBC run is a great sign for the Phillies.

If Nori can continue such a hot streak into 2026, then the Phillies might have an outfield prospect who's about to make some major noise in the Major Leagues once he gets there.
