PGA Tour Championship purse, payouts: How much does the FedEx Cup winner make in 2026?

1 hour ago 3

The top 30 golfers on the PGA Tour this year descend to Atlanta to decide a FedEx Cup champion at the PGA Tour Championship.

While stars like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are among the players to beat, all 30 players will have an equal chance to come out victorious. That means the golfers should be motivated to compete for a title that includes the biggest purse and payouts on the schedule this year.

Although being a major winner is more prestigious, golfers who get the title of the Tour Champion can still be satisfied with beating out a packed field of competitors. If that isn't enough, then the double-digit payout should peak players' interests.

Here's how much money is available to win this weekend.

PGA Tour Championship purse for 2026

The PGA Tour Championship offers a purse of $40 million, the largest purse of any tournament during the season.  Two years ago, the PGA Tour offered a $100 million purse for the final event of the year, but the Tour cut that down to $40 million last year.

Typically, a signature event on the PGA Tour includes a $20 million purse, but the Tour Championship is considered more important than a standard tournament. Therefore, offering a hefty purse is a fitting way to close out the season.

How much money does the PGA Tour Championship winner get?

The winner of the Tour Championship will win $10 million, the single biggest paycheck available to golfers this year. Winners of major tournaments or signature events usually secure between $3-5 million, so the amount of money up fro grabs this week is a large step up.

If being named the season-long champion isn't enough of a motivation, the large payout for the winner should get golfers excited about winning the tournament. The winner will also get a five-year PGA Tour exemption and the rights to the PGA Tour Championship trophy.

Tour Championship payouts

The $40 million purse will be split among all 30 participants this week. Players who finish in a tie will combine their payout positions to get an equal number between them to take home.
