I grew up pretty poor, so my idea of “luxury” as a kid was… a little skewed. I still remember sleeping over at a wealthy friend’s house and having fresh squeezed orange juice for the first time. Up until then, I’d only ever had concentrate, so I genuinely thought I had just been handed some kind of elite beverage reserved for the rich.
It’s funny looking back on it now, realizing how many normal, everyday things felt like over-the-top luxury when you didn’t have them.
