People Who Grew Up Poor Share The “Peak Luxuries” They Later Found Out Were Middle Class Staples

14 hours ago 3

I grew up pretty poor, so my idea of “luxury” as a kid was… a little skewed. I still remember sleeping over at a wealthy friend’s house and having fresh squeezed orange juice for the first time. Up until then, I’d only ever had concentrate, so I genuinely thought I had just been handed some kind of elite beverage reserved for the rich.

It’s funny looking back on it now, realizing how many normal, everyday things felt like over-the-top luxury when you didn’t have them.

This Reddit thread is full of those moments, and if you grew up the same way, some of these are going to hit very close to home.
