According to the official synopsis on Netflix’s site, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is set in 1940 during the chaos of World War II. After the events of the show’s final season, Tommy Shelby has been living in self-imposed exile, trying to leave his violent past behind.

However, he is forced to return to Birmingham to face a "destructive reckoning." With the future of his family and the country at risk, Tommy must face his own demons and decide whether to protect his legacy or burn it all down.

The film is also introducing several major stars. While their specific roles are still unknown, the trailer gives us a few clues. Barry Keoghan is shown with tattoos and a rugged look, appearing to lead a "new generation" of the Peaky Blinders. Rebecca Ferguson plays a character named Kaulo, who is confirmed to be of Romani Gypsy descent. Tim Roth joins and Jay Lycurgo also join the ensemble in a key new role.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man production began shortly after the TV series concluded in 2022. Creator Steven Knight first confirmed that a film would happen as early as 2021, but it wasn't until March 2024 that it was officially greenlit with Cillian Murphy’s return confirmed.

Principal photography officially began on September 30, 2024, primarily at the new Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham. Filming also took place in North Wales, featuring scenes on traditional narrowboats. It was wrapped up in December 2024, allowing the team to begin post-production for its scheduled March 2026 release.

The film is directed by Tom Harper, who returns to the franchise after directing several episodes of the very first season. This final chapter serves as the ultimate resolution to the cliffhanger of the series finale in which Tommy was seen riding away on a white horse after discovering his terminal illness was a ruse by Doctor Holford and Oswald Mosley.

By sparing the doctor's life and allowing his old identity to "die," Tommy sought peace. Now, the film will reveal if he can truly remain a ghost. As the fires of a new war ignite, Tommy’s attempt to live in the shadows is cut short. The final choice between his hard-won peace and the violent duty of his legacy will be revealed when Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man releases on March 6, 2026.
