Paulina Porizkova’s relationship with Ric Ocasek was just what she needed.

The model broke down her “selfish” love story with her late ex-husband in a lengthy Instagram post Monday, explaining that their “childhood scars” were “placed in such a way” that they “fit perfectly” together.

However, while describing the ways in which their marriage did “work beautifully,” Porizkova made a subtle jab at the Cars frontman.

“I wanted to help him,” the “sharply protective” actress told her followers of Ocasek, who died six years ago at the age of 75.

“I wanted to mend him. I wanted to heal the little scared boy in his heart who he was so intent on protecting that he armored up against even me,” Porizkova wrote.

“I wanted to make him a better parent,” she continued, claiming that “he, in turn, wanted to be adored by someone of public value.”

Porizkova claimed that Ocasek, who “in many ways filled in for [Porizkova’s] parents,” desired “someone who would make him look good.”

The actress concluded, “Today, I will be grateful for all the years we embraced in a perfect fit — whatever the reasons.”

In the throwback photo, Porizkova hugged Ocasek with a smile as the rocker stood with his arms crossed.

The former couple welcomed sons Jonathan, 31, and Oliver, 27, during their time together, separating in 2017 — and making the split public in 2018.

“Our family has always has been — and still is — a well-built car,” she revealed. “When the four of us are together, we can go wherever the road takes us. But as a bicycle, my husband and I no longer pedal in unison. So, we’re ditching the bicycle.”

The following year, Ocasek died of heart disease.

His estranged wife mourned the Grammy nominee in a touching statement at the time, writing, “I found him asleep when bringing him his Sunday morning coffee. I touched his cheek to rouse him. It was then I realized that during the night he had peacefully passed on.”

Porizkova, who had been caring for Ocasek at the time after a surgery, was written out of her former partner’s will because he claimed she had “abandoned” him.

She found this “unfair,” telling Extra in 2021 that she was still “coming to terms” with that “traumatic” experience.

That same year, Porizkova railed against the “betrayal” in a “Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet” podcast interview.

“I have no way of knowing what possessed him to do this,” she claimed, referring to herself as the rocker’s “soul emotional provider.”

Porizkova claimed Ocasek had not wanted her to “do anything” or “go anywhere” and told her “how to dress.”

She reached a settlement with the songwriter’s estate in October 2021.

Porizkova began dating Jeff Greenstein in 2023 after a brief romance with Aaron Sorkin. The duo got engaged in July.
