The New England Patriots traded Ja'Lynn Polk on Saturday just one game into the 2025 season, a shockingly quick moving on from a player taken in the 2024 second round.
But it's just the latest disaster of the Pats' 2024 NFL Draft class.
The exception, for now, is quarterback Drake Maye, who is going to be given plenty of opportunity to be the face of this franchise.
But every other player in that class has been a disappointment.

Here's the list:
- 2nd round: WR Ja'Lynn Polk - traded
- 3rd round: OT Caelan Wallace - backup guard
- 4th round: OG Layden Robinson - waived, injured
- 4th round: WR Javon Baker - waived
- 6th round: DB Marcellas Dial - Injured Reserve
- 6th round: QB Joe Milton - traded
- 7th round: TE Jaheim Bell - waived
Maye will make it all feel a little less bad if he can turn into a franchise quarterback.
But that's still brutal.
Draft classes can make or break a franchise. Having one year like this be just a total wash is an absolute disaster.
Polk is out for the season, so it's very odd timing for the Patriots to trade him, in general.

They sent him to the Saints for a 2027 sixth-round pick. It's not even a good return in value. It's just giving up.
The Pats surely wish they could go back in time and get an entire do-over on the 2024 draft, because it couldn't have gone much worse from the second round onward.
