Patriots reveal deadline on trading for A.J. Brown from Eagles

The New England Patriots made it all the way to the Super Bowl in Mike Vrabel's first season as head coach.

But once there, the Drake Maye-led offense floundered a bit, likely sparking momentum for improvement on that side of the ball this offseason. Thus, much of the A.J. Brown trade chatter.

Will the Patriots actually get Brown? That depends.

One thing is clear, though -- the Pats are really in on this. And they aren't in a rush.

ESPN's Mike Reiss wrote this in a new article on Wednesday:

"Executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf left open the possibility of trading for Eagles WR A.J. Brown, saying that there is no deadline on that type of transaction and that the team is always looking for ways to improve."

It's a good thing the Pats haven't set a deadline on this, because the Eagles might not be in a rush to get anything done.

Philadelphia benefits financially in a major way from trading Brown after June 1 rather than before.

Technically, the teams could agree to a trade before then but not submit it until then, but likely not well in advance.

At this point, it might be a bit of a holding pattern on both sides. They'll likely go through the draft and see what they do or don't add, and then go from there.

But patience appears to be on both sides of this equation. That could result in a deal -- but eventually, not necessarily soon.
