US President Donald Trump was in attendance for the Washington Commanders vs. Detroit Lions game at Northwest Stadium in Maryland on Sunday night. The Lions won the Week 10 game 44-22, to improve to a 6-3 record. However, the focus was mainly on Trump, who visited the Fox broadcast booth during the contest in the third quarter. He spoke about his high school football career and even called some of the action in the second half.

When Trump was asked about the country's well-being, he said things were "great" while adding that prices are going down for Americans. When NFL analyst Ben Volin caught wind of Trump's interview in the Fox broadcast booth, he accused the NFL and the network of turning a football game into a political propaganda.

"Regardless of who you support politically, shame on the NFL and Fox for letting a football game be hijacked by partisan politics," Volin tweeted on Sunday.

According to reports, Trump became the first sitting US President to attend a regular-season NFL game since 1978.

Detroit quarterback Jared Goff was the star of the show on the field, completing 25 of 33 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns. Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs also had an excellent game, posting 142 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries along with 30 yards and a TD on three receptions.

Meanwhile, Washington quarterback Marcus Mariota went 16 of 22 for 213 yards and two touchdowns. The Commanders fell to a 3-7 record and will need to potentially win all their remaining regular-season games to qualify for the playoffs.

Last week, reports claimed that Donald Trump wants the Washington Commanders to name their planned $3.7 billion stadium after him.

The Commanders' new stadium is being built on the old RFK Stadium site that served as the home ground for the team from 1961 to 1996.

"That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told ESPN via email on Friday.

The Commanders' planned stadium is scheduled to open in 2030.
