We know that anything can happen in the NFL, and when it comes to the New England Patriots, the rumors linking them with Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown just won't go away.
With the Patriots needing a top receiver, the Eagles needing to move on from Brown's antics, plus the reunion with New England head coach Mike Vrabel, it all makes sense.
When the trade happens isn't known, but the feeling is that a post-June trade is the most likely time a trade could be swung.
And for NFL.com's Matt Okada, this move just makes so much sense.
"The Patriots have figured as a potential landing spot for Brown all offseason, and it makes a lot of sense,” Okada wrote. “Brown would step into New England as the clear-cut No. 1 and he'd probably be franchise's most legitimate “X” receiver since Randy Moss nearly two decades ago.
“A Brown-Vrabel reunion checks a lot of boxes, as long as the teams can come to an agreement on compensation.”

Compensation key to Brown deal
The Eagles, most think, want to move on from Brown, but they aren't going to lose the negotiation.
Philadelphia has made it clear that it wants proper compensation from whoever trades for Brown. What that looks like isn't known, but I'd imagine a first-round pick is likely what the Eagles are asking for. Possibly more.
Would the Patriots do that? Possibly, but if they are serious about going one better than last year, giving Maye a top weapon like Brown will boost New England's offense.
The move makes so much sense, but time will tell if the Patriots want Brown badly enough to give the Eagles what they want in return.
