The New England Patriots brought back an old friend in an effort to add depth.
The Pats have signed offensive lineman Yasir Durant to a one-year deal, per MLFootball.
Durant played seven games for the Patriots in 2021, starting one of them.
He was originally an undrafted free agent in 2020 out of Missouri who signed with the Chiefs.
After Kansas City and New England, Durant then went to the Saints and the Broncos for one-year stints.
Since then, Durant has played two spring seasons for the DC Defenders in the UFL.

This season, the Defenders were UFL champions and Durant was named to the All-UFL Team.
The 27-year old can play multiple spots on the offensive line, which makes him an extremely logical signing at this point in the summer. That's how Durant will give himself the best chance of actually making the Patriots' roster, simply by showing he can fill-in whenever and wherever he is needed.
There are no guarantees here, but after a strong UFL performance, Durant probably had a few offers from the NFL.
He chose to stick with a place he felt comfortable, New England, although the coaching staff is all new since Durant's time.
Now the Pats and Durant will hope they can be a good match once again.
