The Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 season was cut short thanks to Patrick Mahomes suffering a season-ending ACL injury late in the year.
That injury didn't just end his 2025 season, but it also threatened his 2026 NFL season. Now, with just a few days to go before the Chiefs play their first game of the season against the Denver Broncos in Week 1, how is Mahomes doing?
Fortunately for Chiefs fans, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Andy Reid told reporters that Mahomes has a "pretty good chance" of suiting up in Week 1.
Chiefs have 'pretty good chance' to see Patrick Mahomes play in Week 1
"Coach Andy Reid says Patrick Mahomes is set to start on MNF. 'Pretty good chance' are his exact words," Rapoport reported Tuesday afternoon.
This is some very encouraging news for the Chiefs and Mahomes, as it's clear Mahomes has a good chance to suit up in the first week of the season after a serious injury last season.
The future Hall of Famer is set to play in Week 1 against the AFC West rival Broncos in what could be a pivotal matchup for the division race this year.

Last season, in 14 games, Mahomes threw for 3,587 passing yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, with an 89.6 passer rating, the worst of his NFL career since becoming the full-time starter.
The Chiefs won't be able to contend without Mahomes, and fortunately it appears likely the Chiefs will see him suit up on Monday night for the first game of the season.
This is some great news for the Chiefs, the fans, and especially Mahomes. While he still needs to get through the week to be good to go for Monday night's game, all signs are pointing towards Mahomes being back for the Chiefs' Week 1 matchup.
