Patrick Beverley speaks on why Victor Wembanyama is an unguardable superstar

Over the past three seasons, the NBA has gotten accustomed to seeing the massive Victor Wembanyama be a star for the San Antonio Spurs. He is one of the toughest players to play against, especially with his second-to-none defensive impact. 

However, he is not only a defensive phenom because he is also a tough player to guard. At 7'5", Wembanyama towers over most of the NBA, and he uses that to his advantage on both ends of the floor. On defense, he has the length to block almost any shot, while on offense, he can put it in from places defenders cannot reach.

Patrick Beverley dives into why Victor Wembanyama is unguardable

As one of the best defenders in recent memory, Patrick Beverley knows what it takes to stop certain players. He has done so by guarding point guards and shooting guards over the years as a physical player who will always work hard to stop the opponent.

Of course, Beverley is a smaller player, so he will often struggle against the bigger players who tower over him. Wembanyama is one of those players, as he has a significant size advantage over someone like Beverley, who he can just shoot over.

For Beverley, he gave a good comparison for Wembanyama, and that is saying that he is a mixture of multiple players. Those names include Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, and LeBron James. These are massive superstars, but it seems Wembanyama is living up to the hype.

"What I've learned from being around Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James, and Giannis, right? What I learned about those three guys. One of those guys can beat you here, here, here, mechanical, Kawhi Leonard," Beverley said while on Thanasis Antetokounmpo's podcast, Thanalysis.

"Wemby, he's a mix of all three of those guys. That's also 7'5”. He's arguably the tallest player in the NBA. So when you get a player with that much skill, and mind you, he doesn't have to use his skill all the time."

Wemby can always get the ball at a high pickup point, which cuts out most of the defenders. That is why players are more physical with him because that is the only way to stop him, especially when he's in the paint. Despite that, Wembanyama finds ways to make an impact, which is why he's seen as the face of the NBA moving forward.
