A month after the Hall of Fame Game kicked things off, the 2026 NFL preseason is in the books. That means the real thing is almost here.
Thanks to the first international game of the season matching the 49ers and Rams in Melbourne, Australia, the Week 1 schedule has been expanded by a day.
That allows the reigning Super Bowl champions to host the traditional season opener, with the Seahawks set to welcome the Patriots.
It's a full slate of action from there, with the Giants and Cowboys getting the initial "Sunday Night Football" game of the season and Chiefs vs. Broncos wrapping up the opening week on "Monday Night Football".

Is there an NFL game today?
There are no NFL preseason or regular-season games the weekend of Sept. 3-6.
The 2026 regular season gets a rare Wednesday start on Sept. 9 with the Seahawks hosting the Patriots.
The traditional opener featuring the Super Bowl champions was moved up a day because the 49ers and Rams will be playing in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday, Sept. 10.
