A pardoned Jan. 6 rioter who was arrested last week after posting videos of himself fondling unsuspecting women’s hair on the DC Metro was cuffed again, just seconds after he left court Monday.
Bryan Betancur, 28, was in court in Arlington, Va., for an assault and battery offense that took place aboard a Silver Line train servicing the Clarendon Metro Station in Virginia last Sunday, according to Metro Transit Police and court records.
Moments after he left the Arlington District Courthouse — where he pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released after posting bond — Betancur was cuffed and hauled away by Metro Transit Police on an outstanding warrant for an incident in Washington, DC, WUSA9 reported.
Betancur, of Silver Springs, Maryland, was charged with simple assault in DC Superior Court in connection with Metro Transit Police’s ongoing investigation into videos Betancur posted of himself online, law enforcement sources said.
The additional assault allegedly occurred on a Red Line train serving NoMa-Gallaudet on Feb. 28, sources added.
The creep’s first arrest followed a viral livestream clip of him touching a woman’s hair on the metro train without her knowledge, and another clip he posted of himself similarly putting his hands through another woman’s hair.
Police could not immediately confirm whether his arrest was tied to the livestream videos, though they confirmed they have been investigating the troubling footage he posted online.
Inmate records indicate the career criminal and self-proclaimed white supremacist is now being held in Arlington County Detention Center as a fugitive from justice.
Betancur, who has a history of mental health issues, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree burglary in Montgomery County in 2019 for entering an elementary school in Baltimore without permission, according to copies of court proceedings obtained by The Post.
He was out on probation for the burglary conviction and was wearing an ankle monitor when he stormed the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to a federal affidavit.
He had received permission to go to DC to pass out Bibles for an evangelical group that day — and was later sentenced to four months behind bars for his role in the riot.
Betancur was one of roughly 1,500 defendants charged for their participation in the US Capitol riots who were pardoned by President Trump early in his second presidential term.
The hair fondler also spent two months behind bars in 2024 — and was ordered to serve another two years’ probation — after violating an anti-stalking order for Brianne Champman, a Washington, DC activist known as “Anarchy Princess” and a counter-protester at hearings related to Jan. 6, WSUA9 reported.
He was also busted for a probation violation in DC and sentenced to an additional 150 days behind bars in May 2025, court records show.
Betancur is a “self-proclaimed white supremacist” who had voiced homicidal ideations and made comments about “conducting a school shooting” — and previously remarked that he wanted to “run people over with a vehicle and kill people in a church,” according to a federal affidavit.
The rioter has also expressed his desire to be a “lone wolf killer,” court papers added.
An account identified as belonging to Betancur — with the bio “Citizen Journalist, Legal Observer. Vindicated Patriot, Political Activist, Prolife, Antivax J6ER Catholic” — appeared to have privated all their content last week.
The Metro Transit Police is urging anyone with information about Betancur or other potential offenses to contact them by calling (202)-962-2121 or texting MYMTPD (696873).
