Carolina Panthers 2024 first-round pick wide receiver Xavier Legette had one of the worst pass-catching games of all time on Sunday.
Legette and the Panthers couldn't quite get past the Arizona Cardinals in a 27-22 defeat. The 0-2 Panthers didn't get much help from Legette.
It was historic, in fact.
Legette received eight targets from Bryce Young, and he had negative-2 yards receiving.

It's the second-worst yardage output by a player with at least eight targets in NFL history. Jamaal Charles had a negative-6 output in 2013, according to ESPN's Ben Solak.
The main problem for Legette was that he couldn't catch any of the targets.
He had just a single catch for those negative-2 yards on a failed play.
There were seven targets that he didn't reel in.
That's about as inefficient as you can possibly get.

Legette has so far been a disappointment after the Panthers drafted him a year ago to try to grow up with 2023 No. 1 overall pick Young.
There's still time for Legette to turn it around.
But if he keeps having games with a lot of targets, almost no catches, and negative yardage, it may spell disaster for Carolina in a way that they certainly would not have hoped for.
