The Carolina Panthers are in need of some tight end depth before the biggest game of their season.
Ja'Tavion Sanders, the young talented TE, was injured in Week 17 and will be out for a while.
The Panthers are heading into a win-and-in clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday for the NFC South Division title.
And so they've added that depth via free agency.
On Tuesday, the Panthers signed Ross Dwelley to their practice squad, with the news reported by transactions insider Aaron Wilson.
Dwelley is most known for his long NFL stint with the San Francisco 49ers, for whom he played his first six seasons.
In 84 games with the 'Niners, Dwelley had 44 catches for 518 yards and five touchdowns.

He then spent the 2024 season with the Atlanta Falcons, getting into all 17 games but catching just one pass for five yards.
Dwelley played 11 games for the Detroit Lions this season, catching two passes for seven yards.
Now 30 years old, Dwelley is 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, originally from California by way of the University of San Diego.
He was an undrafted player who has made a long career for himself in the NFL.
Now, if the Panthers choose to elevate Dwelley on gameday, he could play a role in trying to get Carolina into the playoffs.
