The $1 million Internet Invitational included some drama in the first day of coverage.
The Dave Portnoy-backed event, which features a collection of 48 of the top YouTube golf creators, started airing this week.
Paige Spiranac revealed that her partner for the first two matches, Roger Steele, had some “unresolved beef” with Jake Adams as the two were shown in a couple of tense moments at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri, which hosted the event.
Steele was shown mocking Adams for misreading a putt and complaining about his competitor giving him a putt “under his breath.”
“Roger and Jake Adams had unresolved beef so Roger was more fired up than normal in that match for good reason,” Spiranac said on X on Thursday night.
A follower responded that “Roger talked to him like a child the entire time. Kinda disrespectful.”
Spiranac answered that “Roger was fired up over something Jake did.”
Spiranac got into the mix a bit when she was shown complaining about how long Adams stood over the ball on one tee box.
“I literally wasn’t (being a jackass),” Spiranac responded to another commenter. “I made one comment and then apologized on the green. It’s on camera. Then kept complimenting his shots.”
Spiranac and Steele won the nine-hole, alternate shot match to help their Orange team advance.
The unique format had the 48 golfers drafted into two 24-player teams with two sets of two-on-two, nine-hole matches.
Steele denied there was any issue between he and Adams.
“They didn’t have enough time to show the back and forth between (us),” Steele said. “Jake is a homie and our beef is an old joke. It’s just how we talk when we play. I’ll hold the L on that one though.”
The Orange team prevailed 13 1/2-10 1/2.
There will ultimately be three winners splitting $1 million as the pre-recorded event — run by Barstool and Bob Does Sports — will be airing over the next two weeks.
The Steele-Adams feud wasn’t the only drama from the opening day with influencer Luke Kwon sleeping through his first-round tee time — drawing the ire of Portnoy — and costing his Pink team a crucial point.
