Bills' Keon Coleman responds to Steve Smith criticism with 2 words

22 hours ago 4

Year 2 hasn't gotten off to the best of starts for Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman, with up-and-down performances greeting the offense for the opening two months.

Just one game of 100 yards (Week 1), and only one game of over 45 yards, and five of 30 yards or lower, Keon has struggled to become the weapon that Joe Brady and Josh Allen need.

Coleman's performances this season prompted former NFL receiver Steve Smith to share his opinion on Keon on his podcast.

"He ain't the guy, can't get separation, can't get off the jam, doesn't have it, you reached and got burned, you can't teach a dog how to bark, you either got it or you don't," Smith said. "Can he be a dog? I don't know him, I'm just watching film."

That is a rather honest take, and as expected, as Keon fronted the media, the first question aimed at the young receiver was his thoughts on Smith's comments.

"No, no comment on that, next question," Coleman said.

Bills' offense needs productive Coleman

As is the case with most young players in the NFL, it takes time, and for Keon, given Buffalo's standing as a Super Bowl contender and where it is in the division, coupled with how the offense has looked the past couple of weeks, he doesn't have that time.

The Bills need him to be producing now, and he has done it in Week 1, but since then, it has been tough sledding, and if Buffalo is to keep its regular-season winning streak against the Kansas City Chiefs rolling, Keon is going to have to show up in a big way.

He can't have zero catches in the first half like he did against the Carolina Panthers, and finish with just 30 yards. Granted, if James Cook goes off for 200+ rushing yards again, yeah, fine, but the Chiefs won't be allowing that.

Young players need time, and unfortunately for Coleman, it doesn't feel like he has it.
