Paige Bueckers' dad gets emotional at her WNBA debut, ‘she's living her childhood dream’

On Friday, May 16, basketball star Page Bueckers made her WNBA debut in Arlington, Texas, as #4 for the Dallas Wings.

“I'm very proud of her, but also just happy for her,” he said. “She's living out her childhood dream right now, and to have her first game playing her hometown of the Lynx, who she grew up idolizing, it’s just surreal and just so thankful for this.”

While the Wings didn’t pull off a win, they played an impressive game against the Minnesota Lynx, with a final score of 99 to 84. 

Bueckers has previously been praised by fellow big-name basketball stars, including Caitlin Clark, who was asked about what she believes will be Bueckers' biggest asset this season. 

"I think her poise. That's something you need coming into the W," Clark said. "It all hits you so fast. You're moving to a new city, you're trying to understand your teammates, while you're trying to live up to all these expectations. And I think that's one of the greatest things about her game is just her poise and her maturity, and nothing ever seems to faze her. And she's just always the same constant leader."
