Baseball is better when there's a knuckleball pitcher in MLB.
The San Diego Padres are currently utilizing one, Matt Waldron, who is a fringe big leaguer. He may not stay up for too long, but right now, he's in the majors, and it's fun.
Waldron pitched on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs, and it was a bit of a bumpy day, but it's still a fun part of the game.
There are also new-age realities to catching a knuckleball -- or, well, trying to catch one.
It creates a challenge for home plate umpires, and it can lead to some pretty silly ABS challenges on knuckleballs that are dancing all over the place but apparently cross the plate just fine.
Maybe the best part, though, is that it reminds baseball fans of a famous Bob Uecker quote.
This was circulating social media on Wednesday:
“The easiest way to catch a knuckleball is to wait for it to stop rolling and pick it up” - Bob Uecker

That was in reply to a clip showing the difficulty of knuckleballs not just on the catcher but on the umpire, too.
At least it was a chance to remember one of Uecker's finest lines.
Definitely a fair one, too. The knuckleball, battered around through the air as it forgets to spin, isn't easy to hit. Why would it be easy to catch?
Clearly, it's not, and so you better just go pick it up once it's done rolling.
