The San Diego Padres are still searching for a new leader of their clubhouse, as the team's managerial search continues on. San Diego received the news that Mike Shildt would not be returning to managing after the team was eliminated from the wild-card series back in early October.
Reports today indicated that the Padres have interviewed baseball legend and future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols for the vacancy again.

Padres interview Albert Pujols for the manager vacancy
According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres completed a second, in-person interview on Tuesday for San Diego's opening manager spot.
Acee also notes that the Padres have narrowed down the finalists, and Pujols is one of them, along with pitching coach Ruben Niebla and bench coach Brian Esposito. Both Niebla and Esposito were interviewed once, and it's unclear if they are still being considered for the position.

Pujols was also in the mix for the Los Angeles Angels' open manager position, but owner Arte Moreno chose to go with first-time manager Kurt Suzuki.
Albert Pujols has no managerial experience, but is set to coach the Dominican Republic in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. If Pujols does not end up becoming a manager this season, that WBC run might be his tryout for all the MLB organizations that may be looking for a new manager.
