AJ Styles confirmed before WWE Crown Jewel: Perth that he will be retiring in 2026. Styles has shared why he decided to hang it up next year in a recent interview.

After plenty of speculation about his future, The Phenomenal One announced before his match against John Cena at Crown Jewel: Perth that he's going to retire in 2026. However, it remains unclear if he'll be having a farewell tour like Cena or when his last match is going to happen.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso's Undisputed on Substack, AJ Styles revealed that there's no current end date in mind. Styles also explained that the reason why he's retiring is it has always been part of his plan. He is going to end his career the way he wanted to and by his own accord.

"I’ve had a tremendous time in professional wrestling. Not many people can say they love their job. I do. It’s going to suck when it’s over. But that’s always been my ultimate goal — to retire on my own terms," Styles said. [H/T TJR Wrestling]

AJ Styles wants to work with WWE after retirement

In an interview with Tokyo Sports last month, AJ Styles shared his plans after retiring from pro wrestling. Styles still wants to be involved with the industry and possibly help the next generation of WWE Superstars.

"I haven’t decided yet, but I think I’ll probably work for WWE. It might be good to help develop young talent into main roster-caliber wrestlers. But I just don’t know yet," Styles said. [H/T Fightful]

The two-time WWE Champion is considered one of the greatest pro wrestlers of his generation. He has had a successful career with three huge promotions from TNA Wrestling to New Japan Pro Wrestling to WWE. He has a ton of knowledge to pass on to future stars.
