Packers urged to sign midseason pickup to new deal in free agency

The Green Bay Packers kicker position since Mason Crosby retired has been anything but stable. The team drafted Anders Carlson and his first year with the team was subpar. The Packers moved on from him and may have found a solution.

Carlson did not earn his job back as the Packers kicker this season. Instead, the Packers signed Brayden Narveson. The Packers released Narveson in October after he also struggled. However, the Packers signed veteran kicker Brandon McManus to replace him and he brought some much-needed stability to the position. During a Bleacher Report live stream, Matt Scheidman urged the Packers to re-sign McManus.

McManus missed just one field goal in the regular season and delivered multiple game-winners in his short time with the Packers. He did miss a kick in the Packers playoff loss, but overall he was a great pick-up.

McManus has been in the NFL since 2014 and has shown he still has plenty to offer. This season, he connected on all three of his attempts from 50-plus yards and went 30-for-30 on extra points. He would not be an expensive player to bring back, but the Packers would be foolish to risk going through what they went through with Narveson and Carlson.

He was a breath of fresh air for the Packers special teams and general manager Brian Gutekunst has already noted that he sees McManus in the team's plans for next season. Fans should not be surprised if McManus is back and kicking for the Packers
