Packers rumor reveals Green Bay's interest in Bengals $27 million pending free agent

The Green Bay Packers have a need at cornerback this offseason and reportedly have their eyes on a Cincinnati Bengals defender.

According to Easton Butler of Packers Report, Green Bay is interested in veteran cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who is projected by Spotrac to receive a three-year, $27 million contract in free agency.

"The Packers are monitoring CB Cam Taylor-Britt, per a source. Taylor-Britt was a trade candidate at the deadline, with the Packers being interested back then as well," Butler reported.

The Packers' need at cornerback stems from a few issues.

Not only could Green Bay use more competition overall, but the lackluster first year from Nate Hobbs is another concern for the Packers.

Taylor-Britt once looked to be on a star trajectory over his first two seasons in the NFL, but things have gone off the rails for him the past two years.

The 2025 campaign was particularly bad for him, as Taylor-Britt gave up career-worsts in completion rate allowed (67.9%) and passer rating when targeted (134.1).

He also lost his starting job and appeared in just eight games because of injury.

While none of that is promising, perhaps a change of scenery to a better defense would do the former second-round pick some good.

Truth be told, this is probably a realistic signing for the Packers, who are unlikely to break the bank for a cornerback given their already crowded room that consists of Hobbs, Kiesean Nixon and Carrington Valentine.

With limited cap space, buying low on Taylor-Britt and bringing him in as competition makes sense for Green Bay.

When it comes to Spotrac's projection, we don't see Taylor-Britt sniffing anywhere near that much. Instead, we'd expect a one-year "prove it" deal for the veteran that comes at about $5-6 million when including incentives.
