Packers' recent starting QB signs UFL contract to try and improve NFL chances

The Green Bay Packers' Week 18 starting quarterback is heading to the UFL.

Clayton Tune got the start in the regular season finale against the Minnesota Vikings so the Packers could rest Jordan Love and Malik Willis.

Now, Tune has signed on with the spring football league in the hopes of improving his future.

Tune will be part of the Columbus roster, along with QBs Jalan McClendon and Jalen Morten.

He didn't do himself any favors with a rough Week 18 against the Vikings. Tune was just 6-for-11 for 34 yards to go with four runs for 23 yards.

He also started one game for the Arizona Cardinals in 2023.

In all of Tune's NFL action, he has a 55.3% completion rate and has thrown three interceptions with no touchdowns.

He was originally a fifth-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2023 NFL Draft out of the University of Houston.

His college production hasn't translated to the NFL level, though.

Now, Tune has found an opportunity to shift to another league, which could give him more playing time that can help him develop as a player.

If Tune can win the Columbus starting QB job, those will be valuable reps in his growth as a passer.

Tune is still just 26 and will probably end up in an NFL camp next summer. But first, the UFL beckons.
