Packers predicted to move on from former Super Bowl champion coach

The Green Bay Packers had a disappointing end to the 2024 season, and that might lead to more turnover on the roster and coaching staff than there was last offseason.

With a 22-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Packers went quietly in this season's NFL playoffs, proving that they were perhaps further from being Super Bowl contenders than previously thought.

With defeat comes reflection, and the Packers will have to mull the right changes to make this winter and spring.

Though the Packers generally were sound in most phases of the game throughout the 2024 season, special teams were a noteworthy exception. That could lead to a somewhat surprising change to the Green Bay coaching staff in 2025.

On Thursday, FanSided's Joe Summers predicted that the Packers would let go of special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, who has held the position for the last three seasons, at some point this offseason.

"Rich Bisaccia's poor performance may result in an offseason departure," Summers wrote. "Green Bay's kicking struggles were a main storyline throughout the season.

"Bisaccia failed to make a difference and was routinely out-coached, making it obvious that a change was necessary. Small margins are crucial in the most important matchups and Bisaccia's group wasn't prepared when it needed to be."

The Packers ranked 15th in special teams DVOA in 2024, per FTN Fantasy, which included especially poor performances returning punts and kickoffs. Keisean Nixon's game-opening fumble to begin Sunday's loss to the Eagles wasn't an isolated incident.

Bisaccia has had a long, successful career as an NFL coach, including a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a brief stint as the Las Vegas Raiders' interim coach. If the Packers move on, he should have some choices in front of him if he decides to keep coaching.
