Packers’ Jordan Love ruled out for Week 17 game against Ravens with concussion

If the Packers want any chance to stay in the NFC North race, they’ll have to do it without their starting quarterback.

Jordan Love has been ruled out for Saturday’s Week 17 game against the Ravens after he did not clear the concussion protocol.

Backup Malik Willis is expected to start in his stead.

Love exited in the second quarter of last week’s loss to the rival Bears with a concussion after taking a thunderous hit from Bears’ Austin Booker. Chicago rallied to tie the game in miraculous fashion in the fourth quarter before Caleb Williams’ 46-yard bomb to DJ Moore in overtime gave the Bears a firm lead in the division with an 11-4 record.

The Bears, who end the season with games against the 49ers and Lions, need to win just one more game to lock up the NFC North and at least the No. 2 seed in the conference.

Green Bay, at the very least, clinched a playoff berth on Christmas Day after the Lions fell to the Vikings.

However, the Packers can still win the division with wins in their final two games combined with two Bears losses.

To have any chance of that happening, though, the Packers will rely on Willis, the former third-round pick of the Titans. Willis completed 9-of-11 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in the Week 16 loss, the most extensive action he’s seen this season.

He went 2-0 as the starter last season and completed an impressive 74.1 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Willis will, in all likelihood, go against the Ravens’ backup Tyler Huntley, as Lamar Jackson was downgraded to doubtful on Thursday with a lingering back issue.
