Packers' incredible Lambeau Field streak ends with ugly loss to Falcons

For 13 consecutive seasons, the Green Bay Packers opened their home schedule with a victory.

The Atlanta Falcons didn't merely end that streak Thursday night. They smashed it.

Atlanta rolled to a 35-14 victory at Lambeau Field, handing Green Bay its first home-opening loss since 2012. The Packers had won 13 consecutive home openers from 2013 through 2025, matching the NFL record established by the Miami Dolphins from 1976 through 1988.

That streak is over.

Packers have few answers for Falcons

Green Bay actually scored first. Jordan Love connected with Christian Watson for a touchdown that gave the Packers a 7-0 advantage.

Then Atlanta took over.

The Falcons scored the next 27 points behind huge performances from Bijan Robinson and Drake London. Robinson rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns. London caught nine passes for 194 yards.

Green Bay's inability to establish anything resembling a running game was especially striking. The Packers finished with only 17 rushing yards compared with Atlanta's 242.

Love threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, but it took him 53 attempts to get there. He completed 28 passes and threw one interception.

Green Bay fell to 1-2 with the loss.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur didn't attempt to minimize the performance afterward.

"We've got a couple extra days here, and everybody's got to take a long, hard look at themselves," LaFleur said. "We've got to find solutions and just come back ready to work."

Still plenty of time

There is plenty of season remaining. But Thursday wasn't simply another loss.

Green Bay was beaten at home by 21 points, outrushed by 225 yards and watched one of the NFL's longest active home-opening winning streaks disappear. That's plenty to think about during the Packers' extended weekend.

The Packers are next in Tampa in Week 4 as they will play their third road game in the first four weeks of the season.
