When the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers put together a blockbuster deal to move defensive end Micah Parsons north, it was the kind of massive arrangement that was sure to make noise for years to come. In that spirit, people are still talking about it. It just won't go away.
Parsons is still coming back from an injury, and the more games he's unavailable to play for the Packers in the beginning of the season, the harder it's going to be for them to get off to a solid start. Some Packers fans might even wonder if the trade was worth it.
Well, a new ranking implies that this deal was definitely worth it for the Packers. It also may chip away at the Cowboys over time.
On Thursday, Bleacher Report released a roster of the 1,000 best players in the NFL going into the new season. It's quite ambitious to rank 1,000 players, and it's obviously a massive list. But, it's also fun. "To tackle all this, our scouts conducted an exhaustive film review and assigned each player a grade," the publication states.
Packers still have one of the best defensive ends in Micah Parsons
Parsons is No. 20 on the list. That's out of 1,000 players, so it's obvious he's still seen as extremely elite.
"Parsons is undoubtedly an elite pass-rusher and has been since Day 1 of his professional career," Bleacher Report states in their piece. "He's arguably the NFL's best at working the edges, possessing the quickness and change-of-direction skills to consistently beat offensive tackles across their faces."
They add that "the four-time All-Pro also presents a handful of change-ups, a relentless motor and the ability to win from multiple alignments. Those traits make Parsons one of the league's most disruptive players."
The only negative they shared was that he still leaves "something to be desired against the run," but for the most part, if Parsons stays healthy, the Packers are going to benefit big time.
