Packers coordinator makes Jaire Alexander trade rumors announcement amid absence

Jaire Alexander hasn't been in attendance at Green Bay's offseason voluntary workouts so far.

The star cornerback's status with the Packers "remains in flux," writes ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

The uncertainty wasn't cleared up at all in defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley's comments to the media this week.

"I think we'll leave that one up to see what happens rather than talk in any hypotheticals, to answer that fairly," Hafley said.

And some more coach speak soon after.

"Whenever everything pans out and we figure out who's here, we will do the very best we can to put them in great positions and making plays," Hafley said. "And when I find out we'll do that."

Alexander is a two-time All-Pro. Indications were that the Packers sought to trade him after the season ended but didn't get any offers.

The cornerback has dealt with injuries the past two seasons, playing in only 14 games total out of a possible 34 regular season contests.

The Packers signed free agent Nate Hobbs to help bolster their secondary, whether Alexander is around or not.

It'd probably help everyone to know whether or not Alexander is going to be in town, but right now, the Packers simply don't seem sure.
