It's never easy to be without your best player.
The Indiana Pacers will have to live in that reality all season with Tyrese Haliburton out for the season with his torn Achilles.
It also creates some concern on the depth chart, where point guard is such a crucial position, one that Indiana is now shorthanded in by default.
It's even worse to start the season, because T.J. McConnell is out injured, too (although hopefully not for long).

There's a lot of uncertainty for the Pacers. They begin their season Thursday night in an NBA Finals rematch against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It's pretty clear who will start at the point, but beyond that, it's a mystery.
Pacers' point guard depth chart
The Indiana Pacers have one thing set pretty much in stone: Andrew Nembhard will be the starting point guard to open the season.
But with Haliburton out for the season and McConnell out for now, the rest of this mix gets tricky.
Indiana has RayJ Dennis and Taelon Peter both available.

There's actually a good amount of hype surrounding the rookie Peter, who is an incredible outside shooter. It's less certain whether Peter possesses the ball-handling ability to play heavy minutes as an NBA point guard right away, especially against a defense like OKC.
The Pacers may have no choice but to throw Peter to the fire a bit, or try the journeyman Dennis, or maybe use 2-guard Ben Sheppard as a makeshift point. Whatever the outcome, it'll come with some uncertainty.
