Outlander Season 8 Episode 3 “Abies Fraseri” features a scene where Claire (Caitriona Balfe) manages to tap into mysterious, magical, “blue light” power that the Starz hit first introduced all the way back in Season 2.

**Spoilers for Outlander Season 8 Episode 3 “Abies Fraseri,” now streaming on Starz**

Halfway through this week’s Outlander, a little girl named Agnes Whitaker (Annelle Olaleye) asks Claire to help her ailing mother, Susannah (Estella Daniels). Susannah is struggling to give birth to twins, so naturally Claire snaps into action to help.

While Claire is able to help Susannah give birth to a son without much issue, the second baby — a girl — appears to be stillborn. Claire flashes back to losing baby Faith in Paris in Outlander Season 2 and we hear the voices of both Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) and Mother Hildegarde (Frances de la Tour) echo from the past. Just when it seems the baby can’t be saved, Claire somehow brings her back to life. We see the blue light and the bird that are synonymous with Master Raymond’s “miracles” right before the baby begins to cry.

So does Claire officially have Master Raymond’s powers to bring people back from the dead?

“I mean, we know that that Claire has something. That’s from the days in France,” Outlander showrunner Matthew B. Davis told DECIDER. “There’s magic in Outlander. We know that, too. That’s a given. She touched a rock and went through time. So there’s magic somewhere.”

“I think over the years, Claire has started to understand in the sense that she believes it, whether she knows how to use it, I don’t…” Roberts then caught himself. “You know, that’s kind of a wait and see situation.”

Caitriona Balfe also felt that this latest development was less of a curveball than a natural progression of Claire’s abilities.

“Look, I don’t think that this has come out of the blue. I think that throughout the series — not just the Master Raymond of it all — but throughout the series, there have been moments where Claire has had a sense of things,” Balfe told DECIDER. “You know, she has touched skulls before and being able to tell certain things about it.”

“And she’s a time traveler, so you know she is able to connect into a different realm, I think. Yeah. This is maybe one consequence of that.”

There are only five more episodes left in Outlander‘s run — the series finale comes out May 8 — which means we might finally get definitive explanations for several lingering mysteries. If Claire is finally able to harness her “blue light” powers to save lives, maybe that means she’ll also eventually learn how exactly she’s connected to Master Raymond.
