Safdie on Thursday officially earned his first Academy Award nomination for Best Director, with his latest movie “Marty Supreme” also earning an Oscar nomination for Best Picture — among the nine nominations for the popular film.

He is currently one of the fastest-rising stars in show business. He is also a massive Knicks fan.
